One week into Australia Post US suspension
It is now one week on from Australia Post’s suspension of some services to the United States and Puerto Rico.
Australian businesses are still in the dark about what is happening to ensure they can go back to usual trading with America. The Albanese Labor Government needs to step up and make sure postal services resume immediately for business certainty.
It has been 300 days since the US President Donald Trump was elected, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is yet to meet with him to discuss the on-going tariff issues which are now impacting many parts of our economy.
Shadow Minister for Communications, Melissa McIntosh said, “Australia Post must notify businesses about their work to ensure all postal services with America resume immediately.
“It is extraordinary that we have a government that has gone quiet on this major concern of so many Australians - not being able to ship products freely.
“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has failed to get a meeting with US President Donald Trump for 300 days and the continued economic impacts are striking so many small and regional businesses across Australia.”
Shadow Minister for Small Business, Tim Wilson said Australia’s small businesses have been left stranded by Australia Post’s suspension of US parcel deliveries.
“Small businesses have been left in the dark about Australia Post’s delivery capacity.
“It’s clear the Albanese government is indifferent to the impact this shut down is having on Australia’s small businesses.
“Small businesses shouldn’t be collateral damage in the Albanese government’s mismanagement of relations with our allies.”
