Paedophiles and sexual offenders still accessing the NDIS - 5 June 2026
National Disability Insurance Agency officials and the Minister for the NDIS, Senator Jenny McAllister, could not provide answers on how many paedophiles and sexual offenders were accessing the NDIS.
Shadow Minister for the NDIS, Melissa McIntosh MP, said it is shameful that this Government was not aware of how many paedophiles were on the NDIS.
“While the Minister for the NDIS is trying to feign indignation and take political pot shots, at least her predecessor, the Hon Bill Shorten, actually bothered to take action working with states and territories and establishing a panel to review applications.
“It is utterly shameful Minister McAllister has buried her head in the sand on this rather than ensuring tax payer funding is not provided to paedophiles once released from prison.
“Disturbingly, paedophilia, amongst other sexual disorders, is listed as a type of paraphilic disorder on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
“These people have committed some of the most heinous crimes against children and they should not be accessing taxpayer-funded NDIS supports.
“The Government needs to be upfront with Australian taxpayers. Serious offenders are currently receiving NDIS support payments as part of their release conditions for supervision when they leave prison and are out in the community.
“This cannot be allowed to continue. It is despicable that taxpayers are footing the bill for paedophiles and violent sex offenders to access the NDIS.
“At a time when the NDIS is about to undergo significant reforms, these cases should be top of the list for the Albanese Government to review – instead they are ducking and weaving.”
